Why the Z1100 SE
11 highlights
Advanced Electronics Package Including ETV and IMU
The addition of Electronic Throttle Valves (ETV) delivers more precise and responsive engine control, enabling cruise control and the latest dual-direction KQS, while a complement of rider support technology, enhanced by an IMU, helps riders enjoy their machine’s sport riding performance to the fullest.
5” Instrumentation with Smartphone Connectivity
5” all-digital TFT colour instrumentation lends the cockpit a high-tech, high-grade appearance. Smartphone connectivity lets the rider use several functions through RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE.
1,099 cm3 In-Line Four: Increased Displacement for Better Low-Mid Range
The engine in Kawasaki’s top naturally aspirated Z Supernaked displaces 1,099 cm3 and delivers 11.5 kgƒ·m of torque. The liquid cooled, 4-stroke In-Line Four engine pulls even more strongly in the low-to-mid rpm range—which riders will notice immediately and use often. From mid- to high-rpm, riders will enjoy the strong performance and sharp throttle response of the large-displacement engine.
More Power, More Control
The torquey engine delivers more power to riders where they need it most, in the low- to mid-speed range most commonly used around town, in addition to linear acceleration response in the mid- to high-speed range. Also, an updated riding position enhances control, improving the ride feeling in a wide variety of riding situations.
Electronic Cruise Control
Kawasaki’s cruise control system allows a desired speed to be maintained with the simple press of a button. Once activated, the rider does not have to constantly apply the throttle. This reduces stress on the right hand when traveling long distances, enabling relaxed cruising and contributing to a high level of riding comfort.
Highest-Level Supernaked Performance
A highly rigid aluminium twin-tube frame, SFF-BP forks and Horizontal Back-link suspension, in addition to monobloc calipers paired with large ø310 mm brake discs create a sharp, direct response to rider inputs, making every twist of the throttle a visceral experience, connecting the rider directly to the road.
Riding Position Offering Enhanced Controllability
An updated handlebar position, now wider and further forward, brings better response to rider inputs, making the handling feel lighter and sharper in every speed range for a controllable machine character.
Brembo Front Brakes and Öhlins Suspension
At the front, Brembo brakes with radial-mount monobloc calipers deliver strong and highly controllable stopping power, while the Öhlins S46 shock absorber at the rear provides a plush feel and ample adjustability to tailor the setup to the rider’s preferences. The result of these two is refined on-road riding performance.
Original Sugomi
In the new Z1100, sugomi is evident both in its fiercely intense design and the exhilarating performance it delivers, radiating as a palpable energy. The look of a crouching predator, ready to strike, meets razor sharp handling to produce Kawasaki’s unique Supernaked riding experience.
Fully Loaded Supernaked
Kawasaki’s IMU-enhanced rider support technologies add even more convenience and peace of mind to the riding excitement of the Z1100, while an easy-to-read display with smartphone connectivity elevates the quality of the sugomi experience to new heights.
KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter)
Complementing the Z1100’s exhilarating engine character, the contactless-type quick shifter enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and quick and easy deceleration.

About the Z1100 SE
“Sugomi” describes the fundamental concept behind the design and riding sensation of Z
Supernakeds first introduced on the 2014 Z1000. This design ethos has been passed to
subsequent Z models. The new Z1100, as example, includes fierce looking LED
headlights and a new under-cowl shape with fins adding to the aggressive Z Sugomi
image.
For the Z1100 models, a highly rigid aluminium twin-tube frame, SFF-BP forks and
horizontal back-link suspension are at the core of both machines, while, in addition
monobloc calipers are paired with large ø310 mm brake discs on the Z1100 to create a
sharp, direct response to rider inputs, making every twist of the throttle a visceral
experience.
The SE model of Z1100 features Brembo brakes with radial-mount monobloc calipers and
Brembo discs plus steel braided brake lines and an Öhlins S46 rear shock absorber
providing a plush feel and tuning via the remote pre-load adjuster.
The rider view on both machines is dominated by the 5” all-digital TFT colour
instrumentation that also features turn by turn navigation and integrated Smartphone
connectivity facilitating functions via Kawasaki’s Rideology the App Motorcycle including
voice command technology.
Electronic rider aids abound on the Z1100 and Z1100 SE. New Electronic Throttle Valves
(ETV) deliver more precise and responsive engine control, enabling cruise control plus the
latest dual-direction KQS quick shifter. An IMU – with 6 DOF (degrees of freedom) -
facilitates other rider support technology such as KCMF Cornering Management, KTRC
Traction Control, KIBS Integrated Braking, selectable Power Modes plus Integrated Riding
Modes that include Sport, Road, Rain, Rider (Manual)
At the heart of these new Z machines is a powerhouse 1,099 cm3 in-line four-cylinder
100.0 kW {136 PS} engine with optimised intake ports utilising increased displacement for
better Low-Mid Range response delivering a maximum of 11.5 kgm of torque while
achieving impressive fuel economy. Camshaft profiles, valve springs and even pistons
have all been revised and each final gear ratio has been optimised with 5th and 6th gears
even longer than previous litre class Z models.
The flywheel mass is greater allied to a 3 mm longer stroke than the previous Z1000
model. From mid- to high-rpm, riders will enjoy the strong performance and sharp throttle
response characteristic of a Z family member. The exhaust system has a 4-2-1-into pre
chamber-into-1 arrangement, contributing to the Z1100’s aggressive looks and light
weight.
Additionally, a new ergonomic package encompasses an updated handlebar position, now
22mm wider and 13mm further forward bringing better response to rider inputs, making the
handling feel lighter and sharper in every speed range for a controllable machine
character.
